Wingwalking Sisters!

News Image Emily Guilding is one of three new wingwalkers to join the team this season. Emily's sister Stella has been on the team since 2009 and after watching her displaying at shows Emily always wanted to have a go on the wing herself.

Emily is a geography graduate and works for an environmental consultancy. She loves anything that is fun and outdoors and spends her spare time skiing, mountain biking and horse riding and now adds wingwalking to the list.

Stella was thrilled when Emily joined the team and coached her through the formation part of the training.

Emily's very first public display was last weekend at the Royal International Air Tattoo, where she displayed alongside Stella as part of the exciting 4-ship display.

Lydia Beadle and Lottie Keble also joined the team this year. Lydia displayed with Emily and Stella at RIAT and as a full time team member has so far enjoyed displaying at airshows in France, Ireland and throughout the UK. Lottie has been busy training and is really excited about her first display this weekend at Farnborough International Airshow.

Breitling Wingwalkers to perform in Kuwait

News Image BREITLING WINGWALKERS TO MAKE PUBLIC DEBUT IN KUWAIT

To coincide with the opening of the first Breitling boutique in Kuwait, the luxury Swiss watch brand has organised a special free public display by the world-famous Breitling Wingwalkers above Marina Crescent (Marina Mall), Kuwait City, on Saturday, 8 March at 14:45.

The classic duo of 1930’s Boeing Stearman biplanes, with the daredevil wingwalking girls posed on their wings, will perform in front of the public and invited Breitling VIPs as the team makes its debut display of 2014. The biplane manoeuvres include loops, rolls, stall turns and even inverted flight, while the wingwalkers experience speeds of up to 240 km/h and a 'G' force of up to four. The close co-ordination of the aircraft pilots and wingwalkers, along with a well-rehearsed routine and close formation flypast, results in a dazzling aerobatics display that has been performed at over 2,500 events globally.

After performing at the Al Ain Aerobatic Show and Bahrain International Airshow, this will be the world's only aerobatic formation wingwalking team’s last performance in the Middle East region, before they return to their home base in Europe.

Martyn Carrington, Director of Flying for the Breitling Wingwalkers, said: “It’s an honor to be invited to Kuwait by Breitling. It’s always exciting to visit different countries and display to new audiences. As well as buzzing over the
crowds at Marina Crescent, we hope to do some flights past the iconic skyline and the Liberation Tower.”

Aed Adwan, Breitling Sales Manager, Middle East, is pleased to welcome the team to Kuwait. “We are lucky to have such a well-known and highly regarded team here to represent the company’s aviation heritage. Breitling only works with unique teams around the world who share our values of innovation, performance and precision.”

New Wingwalker Nikita's first show is RIAT

News Image The Breitling Wingwalkers have welcomed new Wingwalker Nikita Salmon to the team. First Display = Royal International Air Tattoo!

Nikita Salmon, 21 from Northleach, has been to the Royal International Air Tattoo with her family every year. But this year Nikita will experience the airshow from the best seat at the show – the top wing of a biplane!

Nikita recently graduated from Cardiff University and after moving back home to Gloucestershire was thrilled to see an advert in the local paper for a place on the Breitling Wingwalking team.

Nikita says:
“The thrill of wingwalking provides a sensation which very few are lucky enough to have experienced. There really is nothing that compares with the speed and exhilaration of diving in the sky and pulling into a loop. I feel so lucky to be able to experience it.”

Congratulations to Freya for her first public wingwalking display last weekend in Biscarrosse, France!

News Image New wingwalker Freya Paterson joined the team in April and has been training hard ever since. Learning how to climb around an aircraft in flight, perform handstands on the wing and wave against the immense wind pressure while diving in to a loop at 150mph.
Freya is originally from Liverpool, where she spent most of her childhood upside down practising gymnastics and performing.
She first saw the team display at Southport Airshow when studying Performing Arts at college and ever since she has longed to join the team. Freya beat over 100 applicants to be included in a shortlisted few who were invited for an interview and audition on the wing at the team’s base in Gloucestershire. She was delighted to be chosen to join the team.
Freya loves performing and has performed as Disney characters at Disneyland Paris – including dressing up as Princesses and Winnie the Pooh for parades!
Flying on Martyn’s wing for the 2012 display season, Freya has the exciting role of hanging upside down for the inverted Mirror Pass. She says she loves the loops best and was surprised by the strong wind pressure – she never thought it would be easy, but the force of 150mph was a lot more than she ever expected!

Breitling sponsorship increased to 4 aircraft and extended through to 2013

News Image The world’s most popular aerobatics team, Gloucestershire-based AeroSuperBatics Ltd, has today announced a deal to extend and expand its backing from Breitling, the prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer, which will now last until the end of the 2013 season.

The new sponsorship package, announced by AeroSuperBatics’ founder and chief pilot, Vic Norman, means the popular Breitling Wingwalkers, until now a two-aircraft team, will in future be able to perform as a four-aircraft line-up at leading events like The Goodwood Festival of Speed and the British Grand Prix.

“Interest in wingwalking has never been higher,” says Mr Norman, “so we’re happy to have this chance to expand. We’re also delighted to have an even closer relationship with Breitling. Everyone knows how relevant their fine products are to good pilots and great aircraft. This deal means we can perform as a bigger team, but also do more shows in a season when we run as two teams. It’s the perfect situation.”

Mr Norman says the Breitling Wingwalkers will now be able to meet more requests for displays in fast-expanding areas in Southern Europe, India and Asia. “We’ll be able to perform for audiences we haven’t met before,” he says, “and that will help deliver extra value to our sponsor. It's an exciting time."
