Having recently returned from their 4th trip to China, the team is now preparing for an exciting adventure down under.
Delighted to be displaying at The Australian International Airshow in Victoria during March - this will be the first visit to the country for most members of the Breitling Wingwalkers.
“In our 30 year history, we have so far performed in nearly every European country, the United Arab Emirates and often in China, but to finally make it to Australia and the Southern Hemisphere is a huge landmark for the team - a real first!” Founder Vic Norman
Two Breitling Boeing Stearmans, packed in to shipping containers, are currently making the long journey to Melbourne. On arrival the team’s engineers will unpack and prepare the aircraft, ready to display for the Australian spectators.
The wingwalkers are particularly looking forward to performing on the wing in the lovely warm weather and excited to see the reaction of the Australian public.

The Breitling Wingwalkers have just arrived in China ready to display at an airshow in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.
The team are very excited to be invited back to the country. Especially as this time they are part of the Breitling Dragon Tour, being joined in China by the Breitling Jet Team and “Jetman” Yves Rossy.
Two Breitling Boeing Stearmans were packed in to shipping containers back in September and took eight weeks to make the long journey. The engineers and pilots have been working hard putting the aircraft back together in Zhuhai where they have just successfully completed their first test flight since arriving at the show site.
The girls are keen to get up on the wing when the practice displays begin in a few days time – Freya in particular, as this is her first trip to China.
Airshow China 2012 takes place at Zhuhai 13th - 18th November 2012

The Breitling Wingwalkers were honoured to welcome Olympic Bronze Medallist Beth Tweddle to their airfield yesterday.
Beth had an ambition to wingwalk and the team were delighted to take her to skies on the wing of one of their Stearmans. She flew twice at the airfield in Gloucestershire and really impressed the spectators on the ground by performing a loop and roll over the Cotswold countryside.

New wingwalker Freya Paterson joined the team in April and has been training hard ever since. Learning how to climb around an aircraft in flight, perform handstands on the wing and wave against the immense wind pressure while diving in to a loop at 150mph.
Freya is originally from Liverpool, where she spent most of her childhood upside down practising gymnastics and performing.
She first saw the team display at Southport Airshow when studying Performing Arts at college and ever since she has longed to join the team. Freya beat over 100 applicants to be included in a shortlisted few who were invited for an interview and audition on the wing at the team’s base in Gloucestershire. She was delighted to be chosen to join the team.
Freya loves performing and has performed as Disney characters at Disneyland Paris – including dressing up as Princesses and Winnie the Pooh for parades!
Flying on Martyn’s wing for the 2012 display season, Freya has the exciting role of hanging upside down for the inverted Mirror Pass. She says she loves the loops best and was surprised by the strong wind pressure – she never thought it would be easy, but the force of 150mph was a lot more than she ever expected!

After the difficult task of shortlisting the many applicants, the team are currently interviewing and auditioning potential wingwalkers to join them for the 2012 display season. We will keep you posted!
The World’s only formation wingwalking display team is seeking a new recruit to dance on their wings as they loop through the skies at airshows across Europe!!
The Breitling Wingwalkers have an amazing job opening for a new member to join their team and be trained to become a professional wingwalker. This an exciting yet challenging role, as the art of wingwalking involves climbing around an aircraft in flight and performing handstands on the wing as they loop above thousands of spectators looking up in awe.
The team perform over 90 displays each year at events throughout the UK, across Europe and beyond. In the past 12 months they have displayed at shows in China, Venice, Barcelona and Switzerland to name only a few.
“An enthusiastic, hard-working team player is sought for this amazing opportunity. A background in fitness is ideal to perform against the immense wind pressures experienced when flying at speeds of up to 130mph, as is the ability to continue smiling at the crowd below when it starts raining!”
Vic Norman, Team Leader.
The person offered the position will receive full training in the art of wingwalking - no previous wingwalking experience required!
Due to the nature of wingwalking and the safety harnesses, professional wingwalkers can not be taller than 5ft 5” or weigh more than 8 and a half stone.
Candidates currently being interviewed for the position.

The world’s most popular aerobatics team, Gloucestershire-based AeroSuperBatics Ltd, has today announced a deal to extend and expand its backing from Breitling, the prestigious Swiss watch manufacturer, which will now last until the end of the 2013 season.
The new sponsorship package, announced by AeroSuperBatics’ founder and chief pilot, Vic Norman, means the popular Breitling Wingwalkers, until now a two-aircraft team, will in future be able to perform as a four-aircraft line-up at leading events like The Goodwood Festival of Speed and the British Grand Prix.
“Interest in wingwalking has never been higher,” says Mr Norman, “so we’re happy to have this chance to expand. We’re also delighted to have an even closer relationship with Breitling. Everyone knows how relevant their fine products are to good pilots and great aircraft. This deal means we can perform as a bigger team, but also do more shows in a season when we run as two teams. It’s the perfect situation.”
Mr Norman says the Breitling Wingwalkers will now be able to meet more requests for displays in fast-expanding areas in Southern Europe, India and Asia. “We’ll be able to perform for audiences we haven’t met before,” he says, “and that will help deliver extra value to our sponsor. It's an exciting time."
